Please give details of your experience?I spent the summer holiday in between my second and third year working in a Microbiology laboratory at the University.
How useful did you find this work experience when it came to find a job after graduating?I think it helped having some lab experience to talk about during my interview.

What responsibilities do you hold?Testing blood, training less experienced members of staff, validating results, quality management, issuing blood products, etc.
What do you enjoy the most about this job?Responsibility of issuing blood/blood results, teaching/training, working independently on night shifts.
What do you enjoy the least?Working weekends/bank holidays/Christmas.

If so, how does your current situation fit into this plan?I spoke to the careers person in charge of the MBB students and she was very helpful in advising me on the science jobs available in the NHS.
When did you start thinking about what you wanted to do after graduation? Thinking back did you leave enough time for this? In my second year at uni. I started applying for BMS jobs in my third year so I did leave enough time.

Did you experience any difficulties when it came to finding work after graduation? If yes, please describe some of the problems you faced? No, I had my job lined up before I finished my finals.
What do you wish you had known before you started applying for jobs? Nothing.
What advice would you give to someone applying for jobs now?Start applying well before your final exams- it's reassuring having a job lined up for when you finish.
Would you have done anything differently while at university to prepare for your career? Please give details.Nothing.
How do you feel your degree has prepared you for today's labour market?Not particularly well. I use very little of the knowledge/skills I obtained from my degree and have had to learn a lot for my job.
