Did you experience any difficulties when it came to finding work after graduation? If yes, please describe some of the problems you faced? Yes. Having a degree is next to useless. The only thing that is important is work experience, of which it is impossible to obtain any. I am constantly turned down for jobs I could do blindfolded, largely due to the volume of applicants. It has been mentioned that I may be over qualified for positions, but it all stems from experience. There will always be someone more experienced than you, who has ready made contacts.
What do you wish you had known before you started applying for jobs? How little change there is of finding any kind of fulfilling or rewarding employment.
What advice would you give to someone applying for jobs now?Be aware that working for a number of years on no pay whatsoever may be the only way forward.
Would you have done anything differently while at university to prepare for your career? Please give details.I would seriously consider whether to obtain any form of degree again. Those amongst my peers who are doing best in life are those that left school as early as possible.
How do you feel your degree has prepared you for today's labour market?I really believe degrees are increasingly pointless. They matter little, if at all.
What impact did your course have on your career aspirations? Affirmed job choice
Did you make use of the careers service at university?Yes
If yes, please describe how you used the careers service.I visited the centre a number of times.
