What do you enjoy the most about this job?I enjoy the challenges that arise and having to use my problem solving abilities to make things run smoothly.
What do you enjoy the least?Nothing, I really enjoy my job.
What was involved in the recruitment process for this job?I had an interview and an in-tray task.
Do you feel you have a career plan?Yes
If so, how does your current situation fit into this plan?My plan is to work at this full-time and atthe same time build up my tutoring business & exam paper marking part-time. After kids I aim to do both part-time then eventually tutoring & exam marking full-time.
When did you start thinking about what you wanted to do after graduation? Thinking back did you leave enough time for this? After I graduated I couldn't find a job in Chemistry that I wanted to do so I chose to do a PGCE for a year. I had this as a back up plan for last 6 month of Uni.

Did you experience any difficulties when it came to finding work after graduation? If yes, please describe some of the problems you faced? I didn't have any as i went onto do a PGCE then straight into teaching.
What do you wish you had known before you started applying for jobs? The realistic chances of getting ones - I applied to some large Chemical companies but later found out there were hundreds who applied for the same job so my chances were slim.
What advice would you give to someone applying for jobs now?Do plenty of research and think about what you realistically want from the job, not just what you can give them.
Would you have done anything differently while at university to prepare for your career? Please give details.Don't know - I enjoy my work now but it isn't exactly where I saw myself. In fact, I had little idea of where I finally wanted to work until I actually started looking for jobs after I ended up in a job I hated (teaching)
How do you feel your degree has prepared you for today's labour market?doing Biological Chemistry meant that I could teach both Biology and Chemistry at GCSE and A Level (after undertaking a PGCE)
What impact did your course have on your career aspirations? Undecided still
Did you make use of the careers service at university?Yes
If yes, please describe how you used the careers service.psychometric test prep., videos on interview techniques. The leaflets on what you could do with your degree were very useful. I also used it to research employers.
