Please give details of your experience?Part-time work during Summer Holiday and term-time (delivering Pizzas!). Work Experience helping as a classroom assistant arranged through Student's Union.
How useful did you find this work experience when it came to find a job after graduating?This was very helpful as I got a taste of inner-city school life.

What do you enjoy the most about this job?Interaction with students. They are all unique individuals.

What was involved in the recruitment process for this job?Interview (Approx 30 mins). Our school now includes in this interview some observed teaching.
Do you feel you have a career plan?Yes
If so, how does your current situation fit into this plan?I love teaching and will continue in the school I'm in, hopefully progressing to Head of Year.
When did you start thinking about what you wanted to do after graduation? Thinking back did you leave enough time for this? I was lucky in that I'd known for a number of years that teaching was what I wanted to do with my life.

Did you experience any difficulties when it came to finding work after graduation? If yes, please describe some of the problems you faced? Science was a shortage subject at the time (2000) and still is in some parts of the country, although Biology is what schools are least short of!
What do you wish you had known before you started applying for jobs? There is nothing with hindsight that I ought to have known. I suspect this question is for accountants!
What advice would you give to someone applying for jobs now?Do your research. Find out about the school you are applying to. Try to arrange a visit so you can get a feel for the ethos of the school.
Would you have done anything differently while at university to prepare for your career? Please give details.I'd perhaps have liked to go abroad and teach voluntarily during a gap year.
How do you feel your degree has prepared you for today's labour market?It has given me a deeper understanding of my subject specialism.
