| If so, how does your current situation fit into this plan? | It is my first step on the ladder to a career in IT. |
| When did you start thinking about what you wanted to do after graduation? Thinking back did you leave enough time for this? | About 6 months before I graduated, I feel this was ample time. |
| Did you experience any difficulties when it came to finding work after graduation? If yes, please describe some of the problems you faced? | None of the applications I made during my time at university succeeded, I therefore spent a while after graduating unemployed. |
| What do you wish you had known before you started applying for jobs? | More about the direction I wanted to move in. At uni I visited the career service but I never really had any sense of where I was headed after graduating, only that I was going to work in IT. |
| What advice would you give to someone applying for jobs now? | I would encourage them to get experience early on in a role they are looking to build a career in, and find out if it is really what they want to do. |
| Would you have done anything differently while at university to prepare for your career? Please give details. | I would have tried to get experience in an IT role. |
| How do you feel your degree has prepared you for today's labour market? | Not very well. My degree was very scientific, therefore I would have gone into a research role to make use of it. Degree's these days are of no use, you simply have to have one because everyone else does. |
