What We Do

This project aims to provide detailed information about the actual and potential employment options for those leaving Higher Education within South Yorkshire. We're aiming to close the ‘feedback loop’, by making available the HE sector’s knowledge and understanding of the graduate labour market to inform and enhance the decision making process of potential applicants.

The development and dissemination, via the UniWorks web site, of robust information on potential and actual destinations after graduation, improved information on locally-based graduate opportunities and on how to improve one's employability during HE, and employer engagement to facilitate the more confident delivery of advice and guidance and hopefully improve the destination figures of better prepared students.

We've gathered information from almost 200 South Yorkshire employers on what they look for in employees and what recruitment practices they use to make sure they get the best candidates. We hope that this resource will give you the real picture on what employers are looking for, an insight in company cultures, the low-down on recruitment practices and insider information on what it's like to work with them.

South Yorkshire Graduate Case Studies
We also want to give you a true reflection of what our graduates think of university and how they feel their course has helped them to move on in their careers. We've reached out to more than 800 graduates - read their views on the university experience and how they've found the transition from university to work.

Graduate Labour Market Information
We also wanted to let you know about labour markets in the South Yorkshire region. Every year the government surveys graduates from all universities in the UK and we've taken this information to give you an insight into what graduates from Sheffield Hallam and The University of Sheffield go on to after university.
